Between and after treatments.

You will be given instructions at the end of each treatment, this could range from drinking plenty of water, to a few light movements or exercises to be done daily. Nothing strenuous.

On the day of treatment.

If you have a long drive home after a treatment, stop the car every half hour or so and walk around, making sure you and your car are safe. This aids lymphatic drainage and helps the body take on the work. Avoid sitting still at home for more than half hour at a time, just a few seconds moving about will help.

Water.

Drinking water is an important part of Bowen aftercare. Many problems are exacerbated by dehydration and increasing water intake alone can lessen symptoms. After a Bowen treatment your body will start eliminating toxins, water in your body is used for this and so drinking more water will help control any reactions. Good hydration is also required by your cells, to enable them to send signals to your brain about what is going on in your body and so aid the healing process. Aim to be drinking 2 litres a day, start with 500ml if this seems daunting.

Injury and Re-Injury

If you have a fresh injury or a re-injury between treatments, please call and make an appointment to see me before the next scheduled appointment and I will see you as soon as possible. Bowen can work very well on a fresh injury and can in many cases speed up the healing process.

If at anytime you have any questions about your treatment or reactions to it, do not hesitate to contact me.

It is best to follow this advice to make the most of the work done each session, difference in your response to the treatment could be quite marked.
